ID Reading for Scrap Metal Recycling Yards

by | Jan 15, 2016 | Blog, ID Scanning

Since 2006, the value of metals has consistently gone up. As a result, there have been numerous cases of metal theft.  Thieves steal metal from various public locations such as construction sites, signs, highway lights and other locations. The number of registered scrap-yard dealers in recent years has spiked according to the state Department of Revenue.

This changing marketplace has forced officials to tighten restrictions on scrap-metal yards. In order to fix this problem, scrap yard owners in many states must now take sellers’ Drivers License when purchasing scrap metal.

In order to help scrap metal companies, OCR solutions has created the idMax ID reading solution that can be used on a local computer or in the cloud. When a customer comes to the front desk they scan their ID and immediately register in the idMax Database . The system enables the scrap yard to stay compliant while not slowing down the purchase process. The ID scanning software can be used with our user interface or integrated into other software applications using a powerful SDK.
